Painful Memories Pt 7

    Eight years passed. Shadow made a full recovery within a few months after his injury.
JayJay's sixteen now, his wound healed, but left a horrible scar.
He's started distancing himself from us.
I think Shadow's really upset about it.
JayJay got home from school.
"Hi JayJay. How was school?"
"Fine."
He went to his room.
Shadow came home from work a little later.
"Hey Shadow." I gave him a kiss.
"Where's JayJay?" He asked.
"In his room. Will you go get him? Dinner's ready."
Shadow nodded and walked down the hall. He knocked on JayJay's bedroom door, "JayJay, dinner's ready."
They came to the table.
We sat and ate quietly.
"JayJay?" I asked.
He looked up.
"How was your day?"
He shrugged, "Fine."
"Is something wrong?" Shadow asked.
"NO!" He busied himself by putting more potatoes on his plate.
Shadow and I looked at each other.
"Ok." We said.

    Shadow and JayJay are watching TV.
"So JayJay, what are you gonna do this summer?" I asked.
"Hang out with my friends."
"Like who?" Shadow asked.
"Maybe Sara."
"Andi's sister?" I asked.
He nodded.
"Isn't she your age?" Shadow asked.
"Yeah."
Shadow smiled.
I smacked him, "Don't you have any guy friends?" I asked JayJay.
"Not really."
"He can hang out with girls." Shadow said.
"Shadow!"
"What?"
"Ugh! You bad boy!"
"But you love it." He smirked.
JayJay smiled.

    Later that night Shadow and I were kissing in the bed.
"Shadow." I gasped, "I love you."
He smirked and climbed on my lap

    I lay in bed staring at the celing.
I kinda miss being in Mom's room, maybe I'll go in there.
I got up and walked down the hall.
"Shadow!" Mom said.
I heard a bang against the wall.
I opened their bedroom door.
They looked up, "JayJay!"
They were against the wall, Dad's shirt on the floor.
"Close the door!" Dad yelled.
I slammed it shut and went back to my room.
Why are my parents so weird?

    I got up the next morning and took a shower.
I got dressed and went in the kitchen.
"Morning Dad."
JayJay was sitting at the table.
"Morning."
"So, uh, how was your night?" JayJay asked.
"Fine."
I poured some coffee. We sat there eating cereal.
"Dad?"
"Yeah?"
"Why do you and Mom love each other so much?"
I sighed, "JayJay, is this about last night? I'm sorry I yelled at you. You just startled me."
"I was worried you were mad."
"I'm not. What did you want anyway?" I asked.
"I just kinda miss being with you guys."
I smiled, "we miss you with us too."
"Really?" He asked.
I nodded, "So, what do you want to do today?"
"I dunno."
"We could play some video games." I suggested.
JayJay smiled, "Only if your ready to lose!"
"Oh yeah?! Your on!"

    I woke up.
Shadow and JayJay were yelling at each other, "Dad! Your cheating!"
"No I'm not!"
I got up to see what was going on.
They're playing video games.
I sat on the couch watching them.
JayJay reached over and started pushing buttons on Shadow's controller.
"JayJay! Now your cheating!"
"You started it!"
Shadow grabbed JayJay's contoller, "I'm starting this too."
"Hey!"
JayJay started tickling Shadow.
"JayJay! Stop!" Shadow started laughing.
"Never!"
Just then someone knocked on the door. I went and opened it.
A fox stood there, he looked about JayJay's age.
"Hi, is JayJay home?" He asked.
"Yeah. Come in."
He followed me.
"Daddy quit!" JayJay laughed.
Shadow was holding him upside down.
"JayJay?" The fox asked.
"Evan! Dad put me down!"
Shadow put him down.
"Hi Evan."
He gave JayJay a look, "You ready to go?"
They started to leave.
"Where are you going?" Shadow asked.
"Seriously?!" Evan said to JayJay. He opened the door to leave.
Shadow pushed it shut, "Where are you going?" He asked again.
"Umm...." JayJay seemed nervous.
Shadow folded his arms across his chest, "Well?"
"I'm just going to Evan's house."
"Ok. I'll call you later. Be back in time for dinner."
They nodded and left.
